KYEDI officially launched
Hello from the Korean Youth Educational Development Institute (KYEDI).
In November 2020, a group of people who shared a conviction that youth education needed a new direction came together to form a preparatory committee for the Institute. After months of sustained discussion and preparation, we are pleased to announce that, some four months later, the Korean Youth Educational Development Institute (KYEDI) has now formally launched.
The Institute grew out of a need we saw: education that helps young people and adults — those who have finished a rote, one-size-fits-all schooling — understand themselves objectively and take the lead in designing their own lives and careers.
In an era where rapid technological change and the shift to AI are reshaping how people learn, what careers look like, and what work itself means, we concluded that acquiring more knowledge and more information is no longer enough on its own.
KYEDI therefore takes metacognition, self-understanding, self-direction, career development, and lifelong growth as its core educational domains, and sets out to research and develop the programs and research methods that help young people and adults see their present situation clearly and design their own direction.
We do not intend to stop at research. We are building programs and content that can be used in real educational settings, and feeding the experience and data gathered there back into research — a virtuous cycle of research, development, application, and validation.
KYEDI will keep asking the questions that matter in youth education, and will offer practical educational alternatives so that, in a changing era, young people and adults can discover their potential and keep growing.
We ask for your interest and support as we begin. Thank you.
